Stefan Tieleman has joined the company in Amsterdam to oversee Viceland, which is due to begin airing in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg later this year.

Tieleman was most recently head of media at Twitter in Benelux, having previously spent eight years at John de Mol’s Talpa.

The exec was involved in the global roll-out of Talpa’s talent format The Voice, as well as other formats during his time at Talpa between 2006 and 2014.

US youth-skewing firm Vice has so far launched Viceland in countries including the US, Canada, UK and Australia as part of its drive to bring millennials back to TV.

“With the mix of strong international content and unique local productions, Viceland offers an authentic and personal view of the world for a millennial audience,” said Tieleman.

Thijs Boon, CEO of Vice in Benelux, added: “Tieleman has a long background in TV production, which he combines with digital and social media experience he has gained at Twitter as head of media Benelux. He has boundless energy, which will help the TV team to launch Viceland successfully in the Benelux market.”
