VH1’s Mob Wives head to Europe

MIPCOM NEWS: Mob Wives, the US reality show from VH1, will air across 12 European territories, under a deal confirmed here in Cannes.

Discovery Networks today announced it has bagged rights to the first season of the JustJenn Productions, Electus and Weinstein Company production and will air it from the first quarter of next year.

TLC in Benelux, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Romania and Russia will air the show, as will free-to-air female-skewing channel Real Time in Italy and DMax in the UK.

“The situation of the women featured in the series is unique, and their compelling stories have a universal appeal. We’re excited to have secured such a strong ratings hit for our viewers,” said Paul Edwards, head of lifestyle and entertainment at Discovery Networks Western Europe.

The show is distributed worldwide by Electus/Engine Distribution. “Practically every country around the world will now know who the Mob Wives are,” said president Chris Phillip.

Mob Wives (11×60′) follows the lives of four women whose husbands or fathers are in prison for Mob-related activities. It debuted on VH1 in the US in April.
