TV Land revives Candid Camera

Viacom-owned cablenet TV Land has ordered a reboot of hit US show Candid Camera for broadcast this summer.

The 10-episode hidden-camera series will be coproduced by US prodco Electus and Candid Camera Incorporated as part of the network’s slate of original programming.

“The show is full of joyful laughter that catches you off guard and leaves you in high spirits – exactly the outlook that our brand embodies,” said TV Land’s president, Larry W Jones.

Peter Funt, son of the show’s original creator and host Allen Funt, will co-host as well as exec produce, with Electus CEO Ben Silverman.

“Candid Camera is one of the most innovative shows in television history and we can’t wait to bring its unique and distinct style to today’s audience,” said Silverman.
