Starz falls for romantic drama

US cablenet Starz is developing a half-hour scripted romantic drama series with Universal Cable Productions (UCP).

Heartbeats follows the lives of two people who could have fallen in love but met at the wrong time, with the focus of each episode alternating between the two lead characters.

It is being written by Ben York Jones (Like Crazy) and Michael Mohan (Save the Date), with Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Suits) and Dave Bartis (Covert Affairs) from Universal Studio-owned prodco Hypnotic exec producing.

The show will be produced by UCP and adds to Starz’s drama development slate which also includes WonderWorld, a scripted series to be exec produced by Owen Wilson; 1970s crime series Most Wanted; and drug-focused Gringo.
