Stan Oz uncorks wine comedy

Australian subscription VoD platform Stan has acquired the second season of a mockumentary on the trials and tribulations of making a serious wine show.

Plonk (6×30’) will premiere exclusively on Stan in June. Produced by One Stone Pictures and ITV Studios Australia, the comedy stars Chris Taylor of ABC-TV’s The Chaser, Joshua Tyler and creator/co-executive producer Nathan Earl.

The first season, which was filmed in the wine-growing regions of New South Wales, screened last year on Network Ten’s digital channel Eleven after premiering on YouTube.

Shot in Adelaide and at vineyards in South Australia, the sequel picks up 12 months on from the cancellation of the fictitious Plonk programme at the end of season one.

Federal agency Screen Australia, the South Australian Tourism Commission and the South Australian Film Corporation are supporting the production.

The first season will stream on Stan in May. Last month the platform announced development deals with Screentime and Emu Creek Pictures for a six-part spin-off of horror movie Wolf Creek, and with Essential Media and Entertainment for a series based on the life of controversial Australian High Court judge and attorney-general Lionel Murphy.
