Stan unveils Wolf Creek original

New Australian subscription VoD service Stan is moving into original production with two local dramas, including a TV spin-off of popular horror film series Wolf Creek.

Banijay Group-owned Screentime and Emu Creek Pictures will produce the six-part series, based on the 2005 film that followed a serial killer who captures and tortures three backpackers in the Outback. A sequel, Wolf Creek 2, was released last year.

The Wolf Creek series – the first of several development deals to be announced by Stan this year – hails from the creative force behind the Wolf Creek films and Underbelly TV series. The team includes writer and director Greg McLean (Wolf Creek, Rogue), writer/producer Peter Gawler (Underbelly), writer Felicity Packard (Underbelly) and exec producer Greg Haddrick (Underbelly, Anzac Girls).

Stan is also developing political drama Enemies of the State, based on the life of Lionel Murphy, one of Australia’s most controversial political figures.

Produced by Essential Media and Little Mates, the six-part drama will follow the highs and lows of the Australian High Court judge’s career.
