Sky captures 24 miniseries

UK satcaster BSkyB has acquired Fox’s upcoming reboot of the Kiefer Sutherland-starring action series 24, which is set to being filming in London next month.

Sky 1 HD will air the 12-part miniseries, 24: Live Another Day, after striking a deal with distributor Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.

The series will begin airing on Fox in the US with a double bill on May 5, however a UK air date has not yet been revealed.

Produced by Teakwood Lane Productions in association Twentieth Century Fox Television and Imagine Television, the new episodes will see counter terrorist expert Jack Bauer return to TV screens after a four-year absence.

Howard Gordon will again executive produce while Jon Cassar, who produced and directed 24 from seasons two to seven, will also return to executive produce and direct episodes.

In addition, Sky customers will be able to revisit the entire 24 series through Sky’s On Demand service from March.

Sky 1 has been the primary UK broadcaster for 24 after it poached the rights for the popular show from the BBC after its first season.

Adam MacDonald, director, Sky 1 HD said: “The scale, ambition and fast-paced energy of the series epitomize everything we look for in a drama for the channel.”
