Pop has another Nightcap

US entertainment channel Pop has ordered a second season of its scripted comedy series Nightcap ahead of the show’s debut next month.

Nightcap stars Ali Wentworth (Office Space) as an overworked talent booker on fictitious late-night talkshow Nightcap with Jimmy, featuring real-life celebrity guests.

Pop has ordered a second season of 10 episodes before the show makes its debut in the US on November 16, with celebrity guests set to include Sarah Jessica Parker, Andy Cohen and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The show is produced by Lionsgate, which operates Pop as a joint venture alongside CBS.

“Nightcap is a fresh spin on the screwball workplace comedy in an original series that is distinctive and broadly appealing,” said Justin Rosenblatt, executive VP of original programming and development at Pop.

Rosenblatt moved over to Pop this summer after his stint as senior VP of alternative programming at The CW.
