Peppa Pig travels to Germany

eOne’s popular children’s brand Peppa Pig

German free-to-air broadcaster Super RTL has picked up episodes of preschool hit Peppa Pig from distributor Entertainment One (eOne).

Super RTL will begin airing new episodes of the show’s seventh season, which have never been seen before in Germany, from March 1 next year.

The broadcaster’s licensing division will also be responsible for the Peppa Pig licensing programme in Germany following the agreement with eOne.

“The show’s winning combination of humour, charm and relatable stories of everyday family life is sure to appeal to our preschool audience, and we look forward to bringing Peppa Pig to homes across Germany next year,” said Super RTL CEO Claude Schmit.

Peppa Pig has been a continued success for eOne since the transatlantic producer and distributor took a 70% stake in the brand’s co-owner Astley Baker Davies in 2015 for £140m (US$188.8m). At the time, eOne announced it aimed for the show to bring in US$2bn by 2020.
