OwnZones fires up Amazon TV Stick deal

MIPTV: US-based hybrid tech and content company OwnZones Media Network (OMN) has signed up with Amazon to make its content available on the latter’s Fire TV Stick.

OMN’s CEO Dan Goman said the Amazon device was a natural fit for the company’s growing content offering, which targets underserved film and TV audiences with niche genres, vintage content and DIY and ‘how-to’ titles.

“Our consumers and business partners alike will benefit from this alliance and we look forward to working with Amazon to create a valuable and compelling slate,” said Goman.

OMN has seen rapid growth over the past year, during which it has launched a range of apps on 11 platforms, including Amazon in the US, where OwnZones is already available as an SVoD channel.

Last week the company launched its first international content service, Ownzones Passport Romania, in partnership with Liberty Global’s cable network UPC Romania, targeting millennials with OMN-made local and US unscripted shortform originals, acquired series and movies.

OMN is due to launch a service on Amazon in the UK and Germany later this month.

The company provides OTT platforms with end-to-end proprietary technology, marketing, customisable VoD and streaming services. Its programming includes own-produced original content targeting millennials and licensed third-party content.
