Ovation starts 2013 with doc slate

US arts-themed cable network Ovation has unveiled a slate of music, art and dance documentaries to air later this month.

Dance School: Juilliard is a three-part doc series that begins on January 21, going behind the scenes at the New York-based Julliard School and focusing on 16 dancers in their final year.

Then on January 24 Ovation will premiere Who the #$&% is Jackson Pollock?, a documentary that tells the story of driver Teri Horton who buys a painting at a garage sale and then goes on a quest to determine if it’s a Pollock original.

Rize, a doc from director David LaChapelle about street dance, and Planet B-Boy, a film from director Benson Lee on break-dancing, will air on January 28.

The network will also repeat its Song by Song: Johnny Cash series that uses his most enduring songs to tell his life story, from January 13. TH Entertainment produced the six-parter, which originally aired in October.
