NGCI takes to Skies doc

MIPCOM: National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) has picked up global broadcast rights to documentary series Terror in The Skies from TCB Media Rights.

National licences have also been picked up by Australia’s Seven Network and New Zealand’s Sky TV.

The 4×60′ series, made by Arrow Media for Smithsonian Channel and Channel 4 in the UK, recounts near-miss air disasters from the perspective of air passengers. It uses “‘citizen journalist’ material, interwoven with expert analysis and insight,” said Paul Heaney, CEO of TCB Media.

Terror in The Skies is available in two versions, an unhosted US one for the Smithsonian Channel, and a UK one fronted by aeronautical engineer Professor Brendan Walker.

The worldwide deal with NGCI excludes UK, US, Australia and New Zealand.
