Paramount Skydance-owned American broadcaster CBS has commissioned a New York-set spin-off of its NCIS franchise as part of its 2026/27 primetime fall schedule.

NCIS: New York, in which LL Cool J will reprise his role as special agent Sam Hanna, is one of four new scripted series on the CBS schedule for the upcoming broadcast season.

The other new, previously announced, series are Cupertino, a Silicon Valley-set legal drama from executive producers Robert and Michelle King (The Good Wife, Elsbeth); Einstein, about the brilliant but directionless great-grandson of Albert Einstein, starring Matthew Gray Gubler and Melissa Fumero; and vampire-themed comedy Eternally Yours, from the executive producers behind CBS’s version of Ghosts.

CBS has renewed 19 series in all, including several instalments in its FBI, NCIS and Fire Country franchises.

Its Monday night schedule features FBI and CIA followed by Harlan Coben’s Final Twist, while Tuesday night’s primetime schedule is populated with NCIS flagship NCIS: New York and NCIS: Origins.

The unscripted-focused Wednesday roster includes 90-minute episodes of Survivor and The Amazing Race, with the Thursday schedule led by Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage followed by Eternally Yours and Cupertino.

Sheriff Country, Fire Country and Boston Blue, all produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television, make up the Friday night primetime programming, while Sundays feature the network’s two top-rated shows, Tracker and Marshals. Einstein, Matlock, Ghosts and NCIS: Sydney will all air in midseason.

“CBS broadcasts the most-watched entertainment shows in the country and continues to launch more every season,” said CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach.

“We’ll build on that this fall by expanding the powerful NCIS franchise, introducing a new original drama from the creators of The Good Wife and Elsbeth and a new comedy from the acclaimed duo behind Ghosts. This all adds up to another schedule built for launching new hits, scaling audiences and growing content value.”
