New Girl moves in with TBS, MTV

US cablenets TBS and MTV have bought the basic cable rights to Fox’s Zooey Deschanel-fronted sitcom New Girl in a five-year syndication deal.

Early episodes of the comedy drama, which enters its fourth season on Fox next month, will begin airing on Turner-owned TBS and Viacom-owned MTV in the US next fall.

The single-cam sitcom, distributed by 20th Century Fox Television, was created by Elizabeth Meriwether and sees Deschanel play a quirky, 30-something teacher who moves in with three men in LA.
