Mega Channel stocks up

MIPTV: A Greek broadcaster has acquired six titles for its new weekend children’s blocks, including Nerd Corps Entertainment’s Slugterra and Platinum Films’ Matt Hatter Chronicles.

Free-to-air broadcaster Mega Channel has also picked up Code Lyoko and preschool show Chloe’s Closet from Moonscoop, alongside Vipo: Adventures of the Flying Dog from Globe Entertainment and Toot & Puddle from Nat Geo Kids.

The deals were made with the assistance of Cypriot distributor Brights, which is in advanced talks for a number of other shows to fill the two three-hour blocks aimed at kids aged from preschoolers to tweens.

“Even though the economic situation in Greece is difficult, the TV market is moving forward, and we’re happy to be part of be part of that,” said Clemente Pinedo, CEO and president of Brights.

The company currently operates in Greece and Cyprus and is in the process of expanding into Bulgaria and Romania.
