MediaCorp hires digital boss

Singapore-based commercial broadcaster MediaCorp has hired the CEO of an Australian app company to grow its digital business online and on mobile.

Shane Mitchell joins MediaCorp in the newly created role of head of digital tomorrow, and will be responsible for commercialising business lines, improving user experience and working on strategic partnerships.

MediaCorp said the appointment shows the broadcaster is committed to “staying relevant in a changing media landscape.”

Mitchell, who was most recently CEO of Sydney-based app maker Reddo Media Services and has also held roles at Haymarket Media Group and Yahoo! down under and in the UK, will report to MediaCorp CEO Shaun Seow.

“After several years working with media companies to implement disruptive digital services as an agency, it’s great to get back to leading change from the inside,” said Mitchell.
