Little Old Lady adapted in Sweden

MIPCOM: Swedish pubcaster SVT is adapting a feel-good drama with US-based distributor Dynamic Television and Swedish prodco Nexito.

The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules (8×45’) is based on the bestselling book by Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg. It follows a group of feisty senior citizens who form a criminal gang to pull off various heists in order to improve life in their nursing home.

French actor and singer Line Renaud (Ma Cabane au Canada) has signed up to play one of the lead characters.

Dynamic Television will have worldwide distribution rights to the series, which is expected to begin production next year in Sweden and France.

The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules has sold two million copies worldwide in 28 different languages and was a bestseller in 10-plus countries, including the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Sweden and Canada.

Nexito CEO Lars Beckung said the prodco’s collaboration with Dynamic Television and SVT would “serve the series to its best.”

Klaus Zimmermann, managing partner at Dynamic Television, added: “Dynamic prides itself on presenting a variety of distinctively original programming and this is no exception.”

Dynamic is also currently developing a pilot for a new spy-focused action drama with US broadcast network NBC.
