Killer Karaoke strikes in UK

A UK broadcaster has acquired the US version of extreme singing format Killer Karaoke, hosted by Jackass star Steve-O.

BSkyB-owned Challenge will give the eight-part season, which was produced by Zodiak USA for US cablenet TruTV, its UK premiere next month.

The format sees competitors do their best to sing along to popular tunes while others do all they can to disrupt them.

Challenges include singing in front of an industrial wind machine, singing while having body hair removed, being electrocuted and being dunked into a snake-infested tank of water.

Killer Karaoke will join the likes of Takeshi’s Castle Rebooted and TNA Wrestling: British Boot Camp on the UK channel.

Elsewhere, the show been remade in Germany (Comedy Central), New Zealand (TVNZ), Australia (Foxtel), Africa (Sony Max) and, most recently, the Czech Republic (Barrandov TV).

The format itself is a spin-off from Zodiak’s Sing if You Can, which has been sold into 50 countries so far, including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Brazil.
