Jukin Media hires licensing boss

FailArmy owner Jukin Media has hired an executive from GoPro to lead its licensing department.

Brendon Mulvihill

Brendon Mulvihill has joined Jukin in LA as senior VP, global head of licensing.

The exec will be in charge of licensing the company’s user-generated content to third parties, having previously done so as the head of content licensing at action-camera company GoPro.

As the owner and operator of social video brands such as FailArmy, People Are Awesome and The Pet Collective, Jukin produces original content for TV, online and emerging platforms.

The firm has also added Zach Alter, former VP of sales at digital lifestyle firm SheKnows Media, as VP, head of sales, to oversee its ad sales business.

Meanwhile, Jukin and Dick Clark Productions (DCP) are celebrating the 100-episode milestone for FailArmy, the TV series based on Jukin’s UGC content. The show has sold to 85% of the world’s markets, according to Bob Kennedy, senior VP of sales and acquisitions at DCP.

“Surpassing 100 episodes cements FailArmy’s status as one of the world’s top cross-platform entertainment franchises,” added Jonathan Skogmo, founder and CEO of Jukin Media. “The brand’s popularity online drives viewership on linear, and vice versa. It’s a remarkably complementary ecosystem.”
