Jam Filled began talks to buy Arc, which filed for bankruptcy last week, after being bought out by Canada’s Boat Rocker earlier this month.

The deal will see Ottawa-based Jam Filled expand into Toronto, effective immediately. The new office opens with about 200 employees specialising in 3D animation.

The company will take over production of current Arc projects, which will be overseen by Jam Filled executives Kyle Mac Dougall, Jamie Leclaire and Phil Lafrance.

Jam Filled is the service animation studio for The Bagel and Becky Show, a series produced by Radical Sheep, the Toronto-based animation firm acquired by Boat Rocker in March.

This acquisition followed Boat Rocker’s investment in another Toronto animation outfit, Industrial Brothers, which was bought as part of plans to expand its kids and animation footprint.
