Eccho to tell Trotsky’s story

Sreda Production Company’s Trotsky

International distributor Eccho Rights has acquired an historical drama that has been produced for Channel 1 in Russia to mark the centenary of the Russian Revolution.

Scandinavia-based Eccho will handle international sales of Trotsky, an eight-part series from Russia’s Sreda Production Company.

The drama will have its world premiere at Mipcom in Cannes next Tuesday. It charts the rise of prominent Bolshevik Leon Trotsky and his integral role in the October Revolution of 1917, through to his exile in Mexico.

“Trotsky’s story is fascinating and, with so much attention on the centenary of the Russian Revolution this year, we expect to see huge interest in the series,” said Nicola Söderlund, managing partner at Eccho Rights.

Eccho has previously represented Sreda’s crime drama series Silver Spoon, which has been sold as a format in various European territories and has also been acquired by Netflix.
