Downton Abbey ended in 2015

A feature film based on ITV’s hit period drama Downton Abbey is set to begin shooting next year.

The Carnival Films-produced show, which concluded in 2015, aired in more than 50 countries during its six-season run, including in the US on PBS.

Michael Edelstein, president of Carnival Films owner NBCUniversal International Studios, confirmed the film was in development during the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the series in Singapore.

Julian Fellowes’ portrayal of early 20th century English aristocracy is one of the most acclaimed TV shows in history, according to Guinness World Records.
