Disney ventures into Haunted Mansion

Disney in the US has ordered a cartoon inspired by the popular theme park attraction Haunted Mansion, with Phineas & Ferb talent onboard.

Disney Television Animation is curretly developing the Haunted Mansion special alongside Scott Peterson and Joshua Prett, both writers of long-running hit Phineas & Ferb, and children’s book illustrator Gris Grimly. It is set to air on both Disney Channel and Disney XD.

Meanwhile, the studio has extended an overall deal with Emmy-winning Phineas & Ferb co-creator and executive producer Dan Povenmire for the development of new projects.

It is also producing three Disney XD pilots and a new shortform series alongside artists and writers such as Aaron Springer, Jhonen Vasquez, Jenny Goldberg, Jesse LeDoux, Matt Olsen and Ryan Quincy.

The pilots in production include Billy Dilley’s Super Duper Subterranean Summer, about a summer break that takes an unexpected turn; Very Important House, which focuses on the caretaker of the universe; and Douglas Furs, set amongst an animal community in the woods.
