Disney Italy cooks up musical

NATPE: Disney Channel Italy is onboard a forthcoming live-action musical drama for tweens produced by companies in Italy and Spain and sold by 9 Story Distribution International.

Monica Chef follows a teen with a lively
imagination at a culinary academy

Monica Chef (40×22′) is currently in production with Isla Audiovisual in Spain and Milan-based prodcos Funwood Media and 3zero2.

9 Story has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the show, excluding Italy and Spain.

The series follows a 16-year-old girl who has a chance to realise her dreams of becoming a top chef after winning a scholarship to the most prestigious culinary academy in the city.

Finding herself struggling to keep up with the school’s haute cuisine training, she often turns to musical daydreams to help her find her way, taking in pop, jazz and funk.

Created by Rafa Garcia and David Garcia, the series is directed by Manual Sanabria and César Arriero and stars newcomer Isabel Madolell in the lead role.
