Disaster strikes for int’l networks

Broadcasters from around the world have acquired disaster movies featuring earthquakes and severe weather from US producer and distributor MarVista Entertainment.

10.0 Earthquake, which is set just as LA is about to be hit by a devastating quake as a result of deep fracking, has been picked up by TF1 in France, Channel 5 in the UK, Mediaset in Spain, LNK in Lithuania, Hollywood Movie Channel in Taiwan, V in French-speaking Canada and FTV Prima in the Czech Republic.

Sky Italia has also taken 10.0 Earthquake, as well as Seattle Superstorm, about a cataclysmic weather system that threatens to destroy the planet, and Stonados, which follows a former storm chaser living in Boston trying to prevent a natural disaster.

Elsewhere, Final Recourse, which recently aired on Lifetime in the US and follows a mourning mother who is kidnapped, has been picked up by broadcasters including Channel 5, HRT in Croatia, Fox International Channels in Portugal and FTV Prima in the Czech Republic.

MarVista recently completed production on two new titles set to debut at MipTV next month. Fatal Flip is about a carpenter who interferes with the lives of his clients, and Lethal Seduction follows a single mother who must fight to protect her son from the delusional, romantic advances of an obsessed, older woman.
