Comedy Central UK has Better Lives

Comedy Central UK has signed a two-season deal for exclusive broadcast rights to upcoming CBS comedy Friends With Better Lives.

The Viacom net has licensed the multi-camera sitcom, starring James Van Der Beek (Apartment 23) and Kevin Connolly (Entourage), from Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.

The show, the pilot for which was directed by James Burrows (Cheers, Friends, Will & Grace, Frasier), was one of a new crop of laughers that received the green light from CBS last year.

Series creator Dana Klein (Friends), Aaron Kaplan and Dave Hemingson are executive producers for Twentieth Century Fox TV.

Friends With Better Lives will debut on CBS in the US this spring and Comedy Central UK will air it some time during the “coming months.”

Other broadcasters that have acquired the comedy include Australia’s Network Ten.
