Comedy Central gets Drunk in UK

Comedy Central UK has ordered a pilot for an adaptation of Drunk History, which airs on the channel’s sister network in the US.

Drunk History features drunken narrators recounting historical events while actors perform the re-enactments.

The pilot for the new series is being produced by Endemol-owned Tiger Aspect. Dustin Demri-Burns, Tom Rosenthal, Mat Horne and Rob Beckett have all signed to appear in the pilot, with stand-up comedian Jimmy Carr providing the voice over.

The US version, which airs on Comedy Central, is now in its third season and the UK pilot marks the first time the Viacom-owned broadcaster has remade a show from its stateside channel.

Drunk History is being produced by Ben Rogers and directed by Tom McKay. Exec producers for Comedy Central are Jill Offman, Lourdes Diaz and Joe McVey. Andy Brereton is exec producer for Tiger Aspect.
