Netflix has acquired the British young-adult drama A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder in multiple global markets including the US.

The 6×45’ series will launch on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer in the UK and Ireland later this year before launching on Netflix in all international territories excluding the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. Aussie streamer Stan has pre-bought the series as well.

Commissioned by the BBC and produced by BBC Studios-backed UK prodco Moonage Pictures (Obsession, The Gentlemen) in coproduction with Germany’s ZDFneo and Netflix, the project is based on British author Holly Jackson’s novel of the same name.

The series was adapted by lead writer Poppy Cogan (Red Rose, Dangerous Liaisons) along with Zia Ahmed, Ajoke Ibironke and Ruby Thomas and directed by Dolly Wells (Good Posture).

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder stars Emma Myers (Wednesday) as a girl who sets out to prove that an open-and-shut murder case from five years ago is not as straightforward as it seems.

Executive producers on the show include Matthew Read, Matthew Bouch and Frith Tiplady for Moonage Pictures, in addition to Lucy Richer and Danielle Scott-Haughton for the BBC, Jonas Melcher for ZDFneo and Wells, Jackson and Cogan.
