CBS swaps Rules for Rob

The new comedy starring Saturday Night Live veteran Rob Schneider will debut in January, replacing Rules of Engagement, US network CBS has confirmed.

The comedy, titled ¡Rob!, comes from CBS Television Studios and will fill the 20.30 slot from January 12. Rules of Engagement will return to the time period later in mid-season. The slot, which has The Big Bang Theory as its lead-in, was recently vacated by How to Be a Gentleman.

The show stars Schneider as a lifelong bachelor who marries into a tight-knit Mexican-American family. Cheech Marin, Claudia Bassols, Diana Maria Riva, Eugenio Derbez and Lupe Ontiveros also star. Schneider, Lew Morton, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum are the executive producers.

CBS also confirmed the debut of the third season of reality format Undercover Boss will be January 15 at 20.00. The show is produced by All3Media-backed Studio Lambert.

The show that currently fills the slot, unscripted adventure format The Amazing Race, will also make its return mid-season, at a date to be announced later, CBS added.
