Canuck, US nets wild for Kratts

PBS Kids in the US and Canada’s TVO and Knowledge Network have commissioned a fifth season of zoological-themed cartoon series Wild Kratts.

The series is a coproduction between North American firms Kratt Brothers Company and 9 Story Media Group, which have begun production on the new episodes.

The fifth season will include another 20 episodes, taking the total count to 138. The new season is expected to premiere on PBS Kids in 2017.

Meanwhile, broadcasters including RTBF and VRT in Belgium, Noga in Israel, RTÉ in Ireland and TVC in Spain have picked up the series from 9 Story Media Group, which handles international distribution.

These channels join the likes of Super RTL in Germany, Pop in the UK, DR in Denmark, Minika in Turkey and Al Jazeera Children’s Channel in the Middle East in acquiring the show.

The series was created and developed by zoologist brothers Martin and Chris Kratt, who star in the show as animated versions of themselves.
