The political and psychological thriller is from author and screenwriter Tom Rob Smith (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, London Spy) and explores how a mighty media empire is threatened when its family owners turn on each other.

The 8×60’ series, commissioned in 2016, is set in London and produced by BBC Studios, with Alan Poul (Newsroom, Six Feet Under) attached to produce and Smith amongst the exec producers.

Gere will star alongside Peaky Blinders’ Helen McCrory and Billy Howle (On Chesil Beach). The Hollywood star had previously appeared in TV shows including Kojak in the 1970s.

Gere is the latest in a long line of movie actors to have made the move to the small screen recently, including Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Anthony Hopkins and Ewan McGregor.
