Amazon Studios names department heads

Amazon Studios, producer of shows such as Transparent and The Man in the High Castle, has rejigged its comedy and drama development departments.

The production arm of the online retail giant has named Nick Hall as head of drama. Hall joined the company from HBO last year as head of development of its half-hour comedy department.

Gina Kwon, meanwhile, has been moved up to co-head of the studio’s comedy department alongside fellow development executive Ryan Andolina.

The changes come after Amazon promoted comedy head Joe Lewis and drama development chief Morgan Wandell towards the end of last year.

Lewis became head of half-hour and drama series development, while Wandell became head of international productions, developing original series from outside the US.

Rounding off the changes, Amazon has created two new roles at its studio arm to oversee current series.

Senior development exec Marc Resteghini has been appointed head of current hour, while Jill Arthur, who worked on recent comedy The Tick, has been named head of current half-hour.
