ABC Oz goes on The Level

The Level

MTG has already secured pre-sales for The Level

MIPCOM: Australian pubcaster ABC has licensed rights to new British crime drama The Level, which is being shopped internationally by UK-based distributor DRG.

The Modern Times Group-owned distributor previously secured a number of pre-sales for the series, including UTV in Ireland, TVNZ in New Zealand and DBS Satellite Services in Israel, and recently sold the series to NOS in Holland and VRT in Belgium. RLJ picked up DVD rights in the UK and Ireland.

The 6×60’ event thriller, produced by Kate Norrish and Polly Leys, joint MDs of Hillbilly Films (The Fully Monty, The Crying Game), premiered on ITV in the UK this fall.

The Level involves a young detective who goes back to her home town to try to help solve the murder of a friend who was also a drug dealer, but finds her past getting in the way.

It stars Philip Glenister (Life of Mars, Outcast), Karla Crome (Misfits), Laura Haddock (The Inbetweeners Movie, Da Vinci’s Demons) and Rob James-Collier (Downton Abbey).

Alongside the linear licence, ABC Commercial has taken SVoD, digital, DVD, DTO and DTR rights to the series.
