A-list cast joins Netflix movie

Netflix has begun shooting its next original film in South Korea, starring Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Dano and produced by Brad Pitt.

Okja follows a young girl who must risk everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend, a massive animal named Okja.

Principal photography on the film began in Seoul yesterday and the film will premiere globally on Netflix in 2017, alongside a limited day-and-date theatrical release in the US.

Produced by Plan B, Lewis Pictures and Kate Street Picture Company and directed by Bong Joon Ho, it was written by the director alongside author and journalist Jon Ronson (Frank).

The feature will also be shot in Canada and the US, in English and Korean. Joining Pitt and the director as producers on the film are Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Lewis Taewan Kim, Dooho Choi and Woo-sik Seo.
