Viasat lines up Nanking docudrama

Scars of Nanking looks at missionaries who tried to save Chinese civilians in 1937

NATPE BUDAPEST: Viasat World in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) has acquired Jiangsu Broadcasting Corp (JSBC)’s Second World War docudrama Scars of Nanking.

The one-hour programme will air on Viasat History in CEE next month following the deal with China’s JSBC, which was signed at Natpe in Budapest this week.

Scars of Nanking looks at the American missionaries who struggled to save Chinese civilians from war crimes at the hands of Japanese invaders and to smuggle out evidence of the infamous Nanking Massacre of 1937.

The deal was signed by Seniha Tunaboylu, head of content and acquisitions at Viasat World, and Li Hanchun, deputy director of international at JSBC, with Li Sheng, VP of JSBC, and JP Bommel, CEO of Natpe, also in attendance.

“The Nanking Massacre is a very important historical event during the Second World War. I believe the screening of Scars of Nanking on Viasat History will let more European audiences know about the forgotten holocaust,” said Sheng.
