Viacom’s Papis picked by Serbian net

Señores Papis originally aired on Telefe in Argentina

A Serbian broadcaster is to adapt hit Argentinian drama Señores Papis (aka Sres Papis) for its local audience.

Having struck an agreement with Viacom International Studios (VIS) Americas, Belgrade-based Prva Televizija will start production on its local version this summer, with a premiere scheduled for the first quarter of 2020 in primetime.

This is the second scripted format deal between Prva and VIS involving Argentina IP, following the Serbian network’s adaptation of Graduatos (aka Graduates) over some 300 episodes.

Sres Papis is a dramedy about four parents who establish a friendship after picking up their kids together. Like Graduatos, it originally aired on Telefe in Argentina, a network that was acquired by Viacom for US$345m in 2016.

“Based on the success of our version of Graduates, we trust that the format Sres Papis will take us even further in terms of ratings and affinity of the public,” said Katarina Pavlovic, programming director at Prva.

“Prva TV is a channel oriented to the family, and a format like Sres Papis is perfect to put all the generations in front of the TV, with related characters, good humour and some drama.”

VIS said Sres Papis has so far been licensed into 15 territories globally and the local production rights have been licensed in Chile, Mexico, Peru, Slovakia, Ukraine and the Middle East. Format options have also been inked in the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Germany, Russia and Romania.
