TVOkids visits Abby’s Farm with BGM

BGM’s Backyard Beats is set to debut this month

Canadian children’s broadcaster TVOKids has commissioned a preschool series from Datsit Sphere-owned producer BGM.

Abby’s Farm (30×7’) is aimed at three- to five-year-olds and explores daily life on a working farm from the perspective of Abby, aged six.

The series was ordered by the director of kids’ TV at TVO, Marney Malabar, and will be exec produced by Malabar for TVOKids and Daniel Bourré, Sean Connelly and Marlo Miazga for BGM.

Quebec-based BGM has also produced a shortform learning-focused series called Count With Abby! (20×2’). Focusing on numeracy, each two-minute video will feature an original intro followed by three counting moments from the main series.

Malabar said: “We’re so excited to introduce Abby’s Farm to our viewers. By familiarising them with the importance of farming, the environment and community at this young age, the show will help kids develop the awareness they need to become more conscientious adults.”

BGM was acquired by Datsit Sphere in March, having previously been part of collapsed media group Kew Media.

Abby’s Farm is the company’s third TVOKids commission in the past 12 months. The second season of It’s My Party! (13×22’) is currently airing, while music-themed show Backyard Beats (26×11’) is due to premiere on May 20.
