Turner picks more Mattel for Lat Am

MIPTV: Turner Broadcasting System has renewed its content agreement with Mattel for a handful of new titles to air on its Latin American kids’ pay nets.

More than 800 minutes of new content from existing Mattel brands, targeting boys and girls, ranging from movies to features and webisodes, began airing on Cartoon Network and Boomerang Latin America in March 2015. The shows are in Spanish, with a Portuguese-language version for Brazil.

The new licences, covering broadcast and online, include three new CGI animated 75-minute Barbie movies: Barbie in Princess Power, Barbie in Rock N Royals and Barbie and her Sisters in The Great Puppy Adventure.

Two new CGI Monster High movies – Monster High: Haunted and Boo York, Boo York – are also included, along with two CGI specials of Hot Wheels: Team Hot Wheels: Skill to Thrill and Team Hot Wheels: Build the Epic Race.

Three 44-minute CGI Max Steel movies – The Wrath of Makino, The Dawn of Morphos and Maximum Morphos – complete the package.

Pablo Zuccarino, VP and channel manager for Cartoon Network in Latin America, said Mattel’s high-quality programming for boys and girls “nicely matches the kind of fresh and fun entertainment experience that viewers can expect from Cartoon Network and Boomerang.”
