Sweden’s Sonet pens TV script

Swedish movie producer Sonet Film is getting into the TV business with the launch of a new production company.

Sonet Television will focus on drama series for the domestic and international markets and will be overseen by Sonet Film CEO Peter Possne and producer Rickard Petrelius.

The firm has also brought the former head of drama at Swedish pubcaster Sveriges Television as producer.

Ingrid Dahlberg, previously director of the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm, completes the team together with Sonet Film’s Sandra Harms.

The new venture already has a number of projects in development from writers including Håkan Nesser, Kerstin Ekman, Henning Mankell, Lars Kepler, Anne Holt and Leif G W Persson.

Principal shooting of the first as-yet-unnamed series is due to begin next year, which coincides with Sonet Film’s thirtieth anniversary.

Possne founded the business in 1984 and it’s since been involved in more than 70 feature films including Oscar nominated As It Is In Heaven and Lasse Hallström’s The Hypnotist.

The company has been a part of Scandinavian movie conglomerate Svensk Filmindustri since 2008.
