Sky Kids finds Wally, orders originals

Where’s Wally? will join several new originals on Sky Kids

European satcaster Sky has acquired animated childrens’ series Where’s Wally? from DreamWorks Animation and made a number of original commissions for Sky Kids.

Sky has picked up seasons one and two of Where’s Wally? (each 20×30’) from NBCUniversal Kids & Family Distribution. The series is based on the childrens’ puzzle book and features characters Wally and Wenda as they travel the globe solving problems.

Sky has also ordered originals including Not The End of The World (20×10’), which follows an 11-year-old schoolboy as he encounters challenges that he believes to be the end of the world, only to learn they are not.

The series is created and directed by Jack Bennett, written by Ben Ward, produced by Helen Stern and exec produced by Sarah Mattingley. Wildseed and Birkdale Film and Television is producing alongside Toonz Media Group and Telegael.

Live-action comedy series Bad Nature (25×5’) has also been given the green light. The show combines natural history footage with animation and is presented by Marv the Mandrill and Gloria the Puma, who use their animal reporters to answer weird questions about flora and fauna. Bristol-based Rebel Television produces the show.

Sky has also ordered animated musical Pirates Love Underpants. The 1×24’ special is accompanied by five music videos and sees pirates go on a quest for the fabled pants of gold. The special is created by the same Bafta-nominated team behind Sky Kids’ Aliens Love Underpants and is produced by Endemol-owned Tiger Aspect Productions.

Finally, original shortform preschool animated series Streetcat Bob (20×2’) has also been added to Sky Kids’ slate.
