Sky Italia extends X Factor deal

The X Factor on Sky Italia

Sky Italia has signed a four-year deal extension with Fremantle Italy and Syco Entertainment to remain the exclusive Italian home of The X Factor.

The new deal will see four more seasons of The X Factor air on Sky Italia, along with two additional seasons of Italia’s Got Talent, which also comes from Fremantle Italy and Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment.

The entertainment series are two of Italy’s most successful international formats and are flagship shows for Sky Uno and Sky Italia-owned TV8, respectively.

The new season of The X Factor will launch on Sky Uno in September 2019, while TV8 will continue to air Italia’s Got Talent, which concludes its current season with its live finale this Friday.

Cowell said: “Sky Italia are incredible partners. They are fearless and constantly prepared to reinvent themselves. Most importantly, they totally believe in these shows. Some of the biggest recording artists in Italy have been discovered by The X Factor Italia, and it remains one of my favourite international productions.

“Alongside our partners Fremantle and Sony Music, I am thrilled to continue working with this team and I look forward to see where they take The X Factor and Got Talent next.”

The X Factor made its Italian debut on Sky in 2011, with Italy being the only country globally to air the format on pay TV. Italia’s Got Talent, meanwhile, is TV8’s most viewed non-sport show ever.
