Uki, a young bear forced into slavery, finds the courage and ingenuity to outwit her cold-hearted captor and return to her beloved homeland.
Winter of the White Bear, based on the picture book by Martin Ed Chatterton, is a heart-rending, thrilling and emotional family tale that has its roots in the history of slavery, which is as tragically relevant today as it has ever been.
While it is true that the Atlantic Slave Trade was largely abolished in the 1800’s, modern slavery continues across the world to this day. Anti-slavery organisations estimate there are over 60 million people across the planet currently living as slaves.
Inspired by a personal connection, this project will deliver an important truth to a wider, younger audience. This is an opportunity to bring this subject sensitively to a family audience in a way that can be understood on a variety of levels.
We have translated this compelling fable into an immersive animated special that will take the audience on an extraordinary journey of loss, bravery, friendship and, ultimately, hope.
Winter of the White Bear will become a film that will resonate with all ages and help inform a new generation about a difficult and important issue.
