It’s a love story between a man and a place, the chronicle of a passion for a region that, for many people all over the world, is simply synonymous with Germany: Bavaria! In this one-of-a-kind documentary, filmmaker Joseph Vilsmaier (Golden Globe nominee for “Brother of Sleep”) sets out on foot and, above all, in a helicopter equipped with a 500,000 euro Cineflex camera to capture the beauty of this region, a place that fascinates people whether they’ve been there or not. From folklore and lush green pastures to sleek luxury cars and globally active high-tech firms; from majestic Alpine peaks and dynamic cities to vibrant traditions and up-to-the-minute modernity – the essence of Bavaria is depicted in breathtaking aerial photography, and explained in amusing and straightforward comments. Munich and other famous Bavarian cities, Neuschwanstein and further celebrated landmarks, Siemens and BMW – Vilsmaier paints a loving portrait of one of Europe’s leading touristic and industrial regions.
