There was no way of predicting that Hubert and Fanny would meet.

Hubert is a gifted and well-known tattoo artist who, despite himself, has the kind of looks that make heads turn wherever he goes. Love isn’t a priority for him. Neither is his family. He isn’t on bad terms with his parents – who are separated – but he tries as much as possible to keep them at a distance. Hubert’s most stable relationship is with his dog Arthur. As for Fanny, she’s a social worker, caring and devoted, who has difficulty maintaining the boundary between her professional and personal lives. Luckily, Guillaume, her boyfriend of seven years, is totally understanding and supportive. They’re trying to conceive their first child.

In short, Hubert and Fanny have nothing in common. But during a hold-up that turns into a hostage-taking, they’ll experience the most intense emotions of their existences. Over the course of several hours, fearing that they may not come out alive, they will come to depend on each other for their survival. Can a short period of time be enough to change the course of their whole lives?

They both feel an irresistible urge to see each other again. Will Fanny turn her back on her happy and fulfilled existence? Will Hubert be willing and able to open his heart? Is it possible that the awakening of love is the best way to discover our true selves and find out who we really are, rather than who we want to be?

As our two protagonists navigate through troubled waters, Hubert must also deal with his mother Mimi, an incurable romantic who has been hurt too often; and his father Claude, an anxious man who finds it hard to connect with his son. Given their personalities, it’s no surprise that both of Hubert’s parents get along better with his roommate Devin than with Hubert himself. As for Fanny, she can count on the unfailing support of her friend and colleague Pastel. There’s also her father Alain and his second wife Hélène, but they have their hands full with their 13-year-old son Justin. Finally, there’s Fanny’s sister Frédérique, a highly rational urologist with whom Fanny has a tempestuous but almost symbiotic relationship; as well as Frédérique’s strong-willed boyfriend Yaniss.

Hubert & Fanny is a warm-hearted romantic drama that explores love, commitment and passion in all their many facets.
