One Sunday morning, detective inspector Ramiro Sancho is called to a murder scene. His worst nightmare had just begun, along with a deadly cat-and-mouse game with a very disturbed young man. The victim, a young woman whose eyelids had been mutilated, was found with a poem hidden in her mouth. But she was only the first and the murders soon mount up. Obsessed yet conflicted, Sancho delves into the case but is outwitted at every turn by serial killer Augusto; a narcissistic, sophisticated sociopath, influenced not only by music and literature – but also by the childhood abuse inflicted by his mother. It scarred him for life and left Augusto with a twisted predilection for torturing his victims – as well as a deeply buried, dark secret. Intriguingly, the narrative follows both Sancho’s investigation and events from the murderer’s perspective.
The addition of a sinister accomplice, gripping plot twists and a cracking music soundtrack make for a truly haunting and cinematic crime thriller.
