MY SON is the story of the downfall of an 18-year-old student named JACOB, who descends into mental illness overnight. The psychosis engulfs everything, corrupts everything, and jeopardizes his future. We follow his difficult journey, full of obstacles, relapses, and trial and error, but also filled with a very strong instinct to pull through and to start a new life.

MY SON simultaneously tells MARIELLE’s story and her struggle to help her schizophrenic child, who does not always want to help himself. For schizophrenia is a ferocious and merciless opponent that too often leaves its victims grappling with helplessness, isolation, and despair. Marielle is a fighter, a strong and intelligent woman who will use all her external and internal resources to help her son. The show tells of a dynamic quest to break through barriers and open hearts.

It is the beginning of a great and intense journey through psychiatric units, overflowing emergency rooms, protected apartments, homeless shelters. The road to recovery will be long but fascinating.
