Young and talented Italian chef Luca returns to his home in southern Germany after a long stay abroad learning how to cook from master chefs. He is full of ambition and sees a bright future for the family business based on new recipes and ideas to refresh what his late father started. During the time away mastering the tastes of life, his half-brother cooked-up his own shady recipe for success. The only thing Luca discovers back home are the ingredients of doom from washing and borrowing money. Darkness, threats and deceit are now at the doorstep. The old trap. The family needs the capital to reboot a successful restaurant, but they are under the gun for the high interest rates from the money borrowed. The tangles increase when the crime family’s enforcer knocks at the door and Luca falls in love with the local policewoman. The initial optimism evaporates. And worse, the town mayor and local bureaucrats manufacture technicalities to shut down the restaurant. Luckily, in an Italian family a mother’s love is a mother’s love. Gina, the family matriarch bravely holds it all together, but other costs might be involved…
