ProSiebenSat.1 catches up with Fittest Family

Constantin Entertainment will be behind the German version of Fittest Family

German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has commissioned a version of reality format Fittest Family, to be produced by local prodco Constantin Entertainment.

ProSiebenSat.1 has ordered a 4×90’ German version of the series to air in primetime this spring, after Constantin secured the rights to the show from UK distributor Magnify Media.

The format sees 12 ultra-fit families compete in a series of physical tests and challenges to win the title of Fittest Family and a cash prize. Four local sports legends mentor the contestants to help them achieve their personal best.

The format was originally produced by Dublin-based Kite Entertainment for Irish pubcaster RTÉ. It was devised and produced by James Sexton and Davy Fitzgerald in association with Kite Entertainment and Animo TV.

The German adaptation follows a number of format deals around the world. Most recently, RTL Croatia commissioned a version of the series, with RTL optioning it for the Balkan region, including Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Macedonia.

This followed a pick-up by Turner Latin America for Chilevisión.
