Ovation applauds Sky Vision arts, culture

The Pacific: In The Wake of Captain Cook with Sam Neill retraces Cook’s voyage

MIPCOM: US arts network Ovation has signed a volume factual content deal with Sky Vision, the distribution and production arm of European satcaster Sky.

The deal, covering seven titles and 75 hours, includes rights to Ovation’s linear TV network, digital platform Ovation NOW, plus its new AVoD cultural and travel OTT service Journey.

The latest agreement, which builds on content partnerships between the two parties, includes a mix of shows themed around travel, celebrity, arts and culture, including doc series The Pacific: In The Wake of Captain Cook with Sam Neill (6×60’), in which the actor retraces Captain Cook’s voyage.

Other titles in the package include season 16 of evergreen antiques valuation show Antiques Road Trip (20×60’) and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip S7 (20×60’), as well as doc series Illusions of Grandeur (12×30’), following Zack Mirza’s quest to become one of world’s best illusionists.

Arts docs include S1/2 of Making Marvels (6×60’), which spotlights Urban Arts Projects, a team of artists that creates massive works of art; and S1 of Tate Britain’s Great British Walks (6×60’), in which celebrities and historians pair up for walks to rediscover landscapes that inspired key works by the likes of William Hogarth, John Constable and Turner.

Another celebrity adventure piece is Flintoff’s Great British Road Trip (6×60’), in which former England cricketer Freddie Flintoff joins journalist and extreme cyclist Rob Penn  travel across Britain.

The deal was struck between Scott Woodward, exec VP of programming at Ovation, and Gillian Rose, senior VP of sales and acquisitions for the US at Sky Vision.
