OUTtv taps into New Zealand

Canadian LGBTQI+ network OUTtv is expanding into New Zealand after agreeing a partnership with local broadcaster TVNZ.

Kiwis will now be able to watch OUTtv’s LGBTQI+ series, movies and documentaries through TVNZ’s OnDemand platform and can stream programming including Broke Straight Boys and Drag Becomes Him for free.

The expansion follows 12 months of Canadian growth for OUTtv and mobile service OUTtvGo, with year-on-year subscriptions up by more than 450%, according to the company.

Juliet Peterson, TVNZ’s general manager of digital content, said: “OUTtv’s programmes are innovative, thought-provoking and entertaining. With full seasons and a collection of groundbreaking documentaries available to stream now, there is something for all our viewers in this specially created OUTtv home on our platform.”

Brad Danks, CEO at OUTtv Network, described the deal as “an important milestone” and said new series, movies and documentaries would be added for local viewers every month.
